PRF treatments are customized based on the areas being treated, the client's anatomy and individual goals. Results develop gradually and vary from person to person.
What Is PRF?
PRF stands for platelet-rich fibrin. To prepare PRF, we draw a small amount of your blood and process it in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets within a fibrin matrix.
The prepared PRF is then used as part of an individualized facial rejuvenation treatment. Because it is derived from your own blood, PRF does not add the same type of manufactured hyaluronic acid gel used in traditional dermal fillers.
What Can PRF Be Used For?
Depending on your anatomy and goals, your provider may recommend PRF for areas such as:

Because the skin around the eyes is thin and delicate, treatment needs to be selected carefully. PRF may be considered when the goal is gradual improvement in the appearance and quality of the under-eye area rather than the more immediate structural correction associated with traditional filler.
Under-eye darkness, hollowness and texture can have different causes, so PRF isn't automatically the answer for every under-eye concern. Your provider will evaluate the area before recommending treatment.
PRF for Cheeks & Facial Rejuvenation
PRF may also be used throughout selected areas of the cheeks and face when we're looking for a gradual approach to rejuvenation.
This can be especially appealing to clients who want improvement but aren't necessarily looking for the contour or immediate volume associated with traditional dermal filler.

PRF vs. Dermal Filler
PRF and dermal filler aren't interchangeable.
Dermal filler can provide more immediate structural volume, contour and support. We may use JUVÉDERM filler for areas such as the lips, cheeks, chin and jawline when adding or restoring volume is the goal.
PRF is prepared from your own blood and is generally chosen when we want a more gradual approach to facial rejuvenation.
Sometimes PRF makes sense. Sometimes filler makes sense. And sometimes a thoughtful treatment plan may include both. We'd rather choose the treatment based on your face than choose the treatment first and try to make your face fit it.
What Happens During a PRF Treatment?
Your appointment begins with an assessment of the areas you'd like to improve.
A small amount of blood is drawn and processed in a centrifuge to prepare the PRF. Your provider then places the PRF in the selected treatment areas using an injection technique appropriate for your treatment plan.
Because PRF requires a blood draw and multiple injections, you should expect the appointment to be different from a simple facial or skincare treatment.
Is There Downtime After PRF?
Swelling, tenderness and bruising can occur after PRF injections. The amount of swelling varies depending on the area treated and the individual.
The under-eye area can be particularly prone to visible swelling, so we recommend planning your treatment with your calendar in mind rather than scheduling it immediately before an important event.
Your provider will review specific aftercare instructions with you.
When Will I See PRF Results?
PRF is not an instant-result treatment in the way traditional filler can be.
Changes are expected to develop gradually as the treatment area settles. Your provider will explain when to evaluate your result based on the area treated and your individual treatment plan.
For some clients, a series of treatments may be recommended rather than expecting one appointment to accomplish everything.
How Many PRF Treatments Will I Need?

Is PRF the same as PRP?
