Before New You / After New You: Meet Beth
We spend a lot of time at New You talking about treatments, skincare, and taking care of your skin. But we thought it might be fun to turn the tables and tell you what we actually do ourselves.
Welcome to our new Before New You / After New You series!
Over the next few months, we're introducing you to the women behind New You: what we did before working here, what we've learned, the treatments and products we actually love, and a little bit about who we are outside of New You.
And we're starting with our Office Manager, Beth.
[ADD BEFORE & AFTER PHOTO HERE — 2018 | 2026]
Beth, take us back to 2018. What was your skincare routine like?
I loved the sun!
We had built a pool in our backyard, I never wore SPF because I honestly thought I didn't need it, and I loved being tanner than tan.
And skincare? There wasn't much of it.
I surely wasn't washing my face every night. If my face got washed while I was in the shower, I considered that good enough!
Needless to say, I've learned a few things since then.
What did you think about Botox back then?
I thought Botox was frivolous.
I think I started with about 15 units, and I even thought that was crazy.
I remember working at a bridal shop and overhearing some very young girls talking about getting 50+ units of Botox. Meanwhile, I was so proud of my little 15 units and remember thinking, These girls are crazy!
Well...
Fast-forward to today and I religiously get around 80 units every three months, usually paired with a VI Peel and Skinvive.
So apparently those girls were onto something. 😂
What do you notice when you compare your 2018 photo to today?
My forehead wrinkles are probably the first thing I notice.
But here's what I actually love about that older picture: you can tell by my face that I smiled A LOT.
I've always had a very expressive face, and I don't want to lose that. When I look at my picture today, I think you can still see that same happiness and expression, just with fewer lines.
The wrinkles in my forehead had become pretty deep. One thing I've learned through my own experience is that consistency matters. With regular Botox treatments over time, I watched those lines gradually soften.
I'm eight years older in the second picture, and I still look like me.
That's probably my favorite part.
So what does your routine look like now?
Well, we've come a long way from washing my face in the shower!
Botox has become part of my regular routine, and I love pairing my Botox appointments with a VI Peel.
Now, here's some honesty from someone who works at a med spa:
I don't love peels.
There. I said it.
I may not love the actual process, but I know the benefits, I like what they do for my skin, and that's why I continue to do them.
I also get regular facials and SkinPen treatments.
If you ask me my favorite treatment besides Botox, SkinPen wins. I absolutely love it and think it's one of those treatments that gives you so much benefit.
What about PRF?
I love PRF, too, and it's definitely something I want as part of my aesthetic routine.
But I also call PRF one of my luxury treatments.
One of the biggest things I've learned working at New You is that you don't necessarily have to start with the most expensive treatment on the menu.
There are other things you can do first that cost less and can still give you great results. Get the basics right. Be consistent. Take care of your skin at home. Then you can decide where those extra treatments fit into your goals and budget.
I think that's important for clients to hear.
And then there's at-home skincare...
This may be one of the biggest changes between 2018 Beth and 2026 Beth.
At-home skincare is now a HUGE must for me.
I've learned that what we do in the treatment room is only part of the equation. What I'm doing to my skin every single day matters, too.
I genuinely love our professional skincare products and have definitely developed some favorites along the way.
Ask me about them when you're in New You. I will happily share what I use, what I love, and what has earned permanent real estate on my bathroom counter.
And yes, SPF is part of my life now.
Apparently “I don't think I need sunscreen” wasn't one of my more brilliant theories. Who knew? 😂
What has being at New You taught you?
Probably more than anything, I've learned that taking care of your skin doesn't have to mean trying to change the way you look.
I don't want to look like somebody else.
I don't even want to look 25 again.
I want to look like me.
I still want my face to move. I still want you to know I smile a lot. I want to look refreshed and take care of the skin I have as I get older.
And I've learned that you don't have to do everything.
Botox, facials, SkinPen, peels, good skincare, filler, Skinvive, PRF...there are so many options. But that doesn't mean everyone needs all of them.
For me, it has been about figuring out what I love, what works for my skin, what is worth the investment, and then being consistent with it.
Beth's New You Favorites
Treatment I won't give up: Botox
Favorite treatment besides Botox: SkinPen
Treatment I do even though I don't exactly love doing it: VI Peel
Aesthetic splurge: PRF
Biggest change from 2018: Consistent at-home skincare...and SPF!
My philosophy now: You don't have to do everything. Start with the things that give you the most benefit and build from there.
Before New You / After New You
When I look at these two pictures, I don't look at the 2018 version of myself and think there was something wrong with her.
She was happy. She smiled a lot. She spent entirely too much time baking herself beside her new pool without sunscreen, but we forgive her. 😂
Today, I'm eight years older and a whole lot more educated about my skin.
I've learned that taking care of yourself doesn't have to be about chasing younger. For me, it's about taking care of the skin I have, making choices that make me feel good, and still looking like myself along the way.
And if sharing some of what I've learned helps another woman figure out where to start, even better.
